Adjusting Your ILF

ACCOMMODATING UNFAMILIAR LIMBS

ILF (International Limb Fit) is a standardized system that allows archers to universally interchange limbs and risers built by separate manufacturers – allowing, for example, a set of Stalker limbs to be paired with a Dryad riser.

While all ILF risers and limbs are designed to cooperate, some pairs fit better than others. In order to fine tune the proper alignment for your bow, adjust the position of the dovetails with the lateral limb adjustment screws until your limbs are properly aligned.

ADJUSTING TILLER

Unlike traditional stick-bows, ILF risers are designed with an adjustable tiller that can be easily modified to 3 under, split finger, or fixed crawl to answer the demands of any given shot.

Tiller for 3 Under: adjust tiller bolts and set screws so that the shortest distance between the string and the top of the riser matches the shortest distance between the string and the bottom of the riser.

Tiller for Split Finger: adjust tiller bolts and set screws so that the shortest distance between the string and the top of the riser is between 1/8” – 1/4” greater than the shortest distance between the string and the bottom of the riser.

Tiller for Fixed Crawl: adjust tiller bolts and set screws so that the shortest distance between the string and the bottom of the riser is up to 1/4” greater than the shortest distance between the string and the top of the riser, depending upon the desired length of crawl.

ADJUSTING DRAW WEIGHT

Apex risers are built with a 3-5-pound range of adjustable draw weight – controlled by the position of the tiller bolts and lateral limb adjustment screws – allowing shooters to fine-tune their bow to the precise specifications they desire, rather than having to adjust their mechanics to suit the bow.

Adjust both set screws and tiller bolts equally to reach desired draw weight. Apex ILF limbs are measured at a median draw weight with tiller bolts extracted two full turns of the Allen wrench from flush with the riser. The Apex is at maximum draw weight when tiller bolts are flush with the riser. Tiller bolts should be extracted no more than four full turns of the Allen wrench, at which point the bow is adjusted to its minimum draw weight.

NOTICE

Although the Apex is designed with accommodating limb pad angles that cause the draw weight of a given set of limbs to remain the same when paired with any length of riser, when it comes to other manufacturers, limbs often deliver different draw weights when paired with risers of different sizes. Additionally, pairing a set of ILF limbs with a riser built by separate manufacturers can also result in a draw weight other than what’s indicated.
